Audio books have been around for a very long time. In fact, they were
first created in 1933 by a man named J.P. Harrington. Harrington drove
across North America to record the stories, the histories, of the Native
tribes. His equipment consisted of aluminum disks and a turntable
powered by a car battery Today's audio books can provide us with the
same love of storytelling that our relatives had. Audio books are
available in several different formats. One of the newest formats is as

or two and then finding your download is easy. Once you've chosen the

to go! Once the download is complete, you can listen to the book from
your computer, burn it onto a disc and listen in your car or home stereo
or you can download the Mp3 file onto your mP3 player and listen
wherever you go.
Audio books as a download can actually encourage people to "read"
again. If your teenagers are like mine, you know that to get them to
sit down long enough to read a book can be an impossible task. They are
too busy being on the move. With downloaded audio books, this is no
problem. The audio book can be downloaded to their iPod and they can
'read' without stopping what else they are doing. While the kids are
riding the school bus or walking back and forth, they can designate that
time to listen to an audio book rather than music.
